Personalizing your eportfolio accounts

Once you’ve set up your eportfolio account and joined our course site,  don’t forget to do a little house-keeping  to make sure you’re all set up here:

1) On the dashboard, click on your name (to the right of “Howdy”) in the upper-right corner of the screen.  make sure that you select your full name (ex: “Fiona Lee”) from the drop-down menu next to “display name publicly as” (you want your posts to be signed with your full name, not your username)

2) In the same screen, also change your password to protect the privacy of your account.  make sure to jot down your username and password somewhere so you can log into your ePortfolio account in the future (you will be using this throughout your years at Macaulay).

3) Add an image of yourself (preferable a head-shot) so that we get to know one another more quickly.  To do this, go to “my account” (top left of screen, in the grey menu bar) and choose “profile” and then “change avatar.”  you can then upload picture that will travel around with you on site. Feel free to use the self-portraits you created for your first week’s assignment for this.

Website issues resolved

Hello all,

If you haven’t already done so, please set up an eportfolio account and add yourself to our course website.

I’ve managed to sort out our NextGen gallery issues. You should be able to see the “Gallery” drop down menu on your dashboard–it’s on the right column all the way at the bottom. Don’t forget to upload your images for today’s assignment to the “Self-Portrait 09/03/09” gallery before writing your post. From now on, please use the NextGen gallery function to upload all images and not other options.

You should also be able to see all the Categories listed on the right when you write/edit your post. Don’t forget to check the applicable categories when posting your weekly assignments.

If you’ve forgotten how to do any of this technology stuff, click on “Technology Tutorials” on the top menubar of our website. There are various how-to guides posted there.

A copy of this announcement was also sent out via email.

A course email has been set up for this seminar and you have automatically added to it. The addess is: seminar1-fall09@googlegroups.com. All emails sent to this address will be received by everyone in the class, including Prof. Weinroth and myself, your Tech Fellow, Fiona Lee.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any technology related questions about this seminar or in general.
