Adding your project to the website
Currently the 3 presentations we saw have a designated sub-category. Please enter your work there.
These of you who will be presenting next week, once you are done with your project presentation please add your information or links to this website. Go to “Students Projects” category and enter either a new subcategory with the name of your project, or add to existing topic.
Steps:
create a new Post, 2. embed your text or a link to your video. If your pictures or video are short add them first into our Media library and then link to the text, if large just add the web address.
create a new e-portfolio just for your project and then give us the link in the project page on our website.
Have difficulty, please e-mail Fiona or myself
Why Art?
“Measurement is always imperfect, and explanations are easy to invent”. (Lehrer, Proust was a Neuroscientist, p.3)
In perusing a form to replicate our understanding of the world around us why do we chose the sciences over the arts? Are they different? Maybe we can measure emotions and are unable to explain a mathematical theorem. I could not ask you what is Art, but I can ask you why.

Beauty and Biology
“The lack of physical attraction was fatal” Spencer wrote of his rejection of George Eliot love. He argued that biology was interfering in his ability to respond to her. Are we predetermined biologically to be attracted to a beautiful object or a person? Daniel in “Daniel Deronda” (Eliot 1876) asks: “Was she beautiful or not beautiful? And what was the secret of form or expression which gave the dynamic quality to her glance?”
How do we determine beauty in our culture? Is it a necessary component in Art, in humans?
