As mentioned on “The Walking Dead” page, Kirkman’s series has a huge readership, which means the opportunity to consider the implications of texts like these through scholarly research are growing. Whether or not every reader of cannibal comics approaches the texts as literary works, new ways of thinking are certainly availing themselves within this unique and popular genre. In general, comics come from a very traditional point of view, but recently, independent authors and publishers have been challenging convention with series that are as grotesque as they are thought provoking. Below is a cover gallery of a number of zombie and cannibal series that deal with some of the issues I consider in my paper – of course this is just a taste of what’s out there!
