Short annotation: The basic approach of the research for this concept geography map was to note anytime Margaret Atwood mentioned, introduced, and/ or described a place in The Year of the Flood. Eventually all the data or passages of the book were organized into several main categories that are more or less intact in the prezi presentation: general information about earth at large; information about real-life locales that served as “clues” in narrowing down the range the novel could take place in; and the made-up specific locales (mainly the pleebs). Mural.ly was used for this primary organization and as a draft for the placement of spaces for the map (Note: While the scale is arbitrary, most of the placement of the major locales like the pleebs is likely to be accurate in terms of cardinal directions due to passages of the book tracking the movement of characters). Finally, prezi was chosen as the tool to present the final version of this information due to the platform’s zooming capabilities as well as the ability to frame some form of a narrative in presentation.
