Horizontal and Vertical Success

Over these last few Sandy and Stormy, dreary and dizzying days, I’ve been left with plenty to contemplate. Thoughts in my mind were scattered and disorganized (so not me) and mixed emotions tingled throughout my body. But one thing that stood out in my frazzled mind, that I saw on TV, in the news, and in my physical life was the attitude to push one’s self-people jumped out of their elements, left their comfort zones and opened their arms to both strangers and to their loved ones. As Charlie Harary in his video discusses, it’s all about pushing ourselves in life-it’s not about how many weights we do, it’s about how heavy the weights are. It’s one thing to offer to help somebody but it’s another to follow through and push ourselves and act on the offer.

As Charlie discussed his workout regimen, I began to think about mine. Obviously knowing me, I wasn’t dreaming of the ellipticals and weights, I was envisioning the fun stuff instead! One of my favorite things in the category of fitness is SOULCYCLE. Now I’ve been to the West Side and Union Square locations of both of these hip and stylish studios and have found pros and cons for both. It’s a given that the Union Square location is bustling and busy thus smelly and sweaty however the showers and ample amenities in this location can’t be beat.Yet the friendliness and charm of the quieter West Side location are also great perks. Check out Soulcycle and be sure to spin with either Marvin or Elianna-they’re filled with tons fun and energy.
