Let’s Get Crafty

I stole this idea from the Free People Blog (check out the DIY section) and would love to start this trend.

Ever wonder why Apple is obsessed with the stark-white color? I mean I get how it can be seen as pure and clean, sleek and savvy but why? Can’t they understand that white too is just as boring as black? I know that I’ve been looking for ways to make my Apple products more original and hip (white headphones, black iphone, white chords, black mac) and came across this fun and funky post by our pals over at FP.

All you need are those friendship bracelet strings we all bring to camp every summer (if you need anything, the Hoffman gals have an abundance of them), a pair of headphones or a USB chord than can use some pizaze and spunk, and a handy pair of scissors. Oh and of course, creative mind!

1.Select which colors, and how many, you want to use. Cut them longer than the headphone cord – you always need more than you think! Knot them around the headphone cord.

2.Pick whatever color you want to start with and begin making “four” knots. Basically your camp counselor days are back to haunt you where you were forced to show your favorite kiddies and campers how to “Chinese Staircase.” Continue with the stitch, or any stitch you’d like until you reach the end of your chord. Knot up your strings at the end and snip off the edges and Voila, you’ve got yourself a new Iphone even before the 5s came out.

Happy Crafting!
