Reconstruction at Lincoln Center

What did you do?

We went to Lincoln Center and filmed the construction scaffolding that surrounds the front of the building. We used dipity and youtube to create a brief timeline of the reconstruction.

Why did you choose it?

It simply struck us as interesting. We had seen Lincoln Center before and had never asked about the construction going on there.

What did you learn?

How to create timelines on dipity and that Lincoln Center is 16. 3 acres.

Indian Burial Grounds Under Lincoln Center?

What did you do?

Interviewed a few employees (only one of them helpful >.>) about Lincoln Center and its events.

Why did you choose it?

Our subconscious egos were attracted to the largest building in the area like moths are attracted to a Daft Punk light show.
What did you learn?

That the Lincoln Center’s events go beyond just the opera and theater. Also, no Indian burial ground, but we think that Free Masons, Reptilians, or the Decepticons are somehow involved. Possible B grade action movie level plot may be present.

“Middle Names” may or may not be real, but aren’t those awesome?

Yes, yes they are.

Alice Tully Hall

For our project, we looked at Alice Tully Hall, because we thought its chamber music concerts were interesting. We learned that musical venues can be busy even when there is no music. Watch the video and all will become clear.

Dance NYC

We decided to do our video on dance in New York City. Lincoln Center and the Juilliard School are both prominent centers in dance society. The Juilliard School produces some of the most famous dancers of our time, while Lincoln Center holds performances from some of the most influential dance companies in the world. We chose to explore this topic because we are both dancers and have been dancing competitively for a majority of our lives. We learned that Juilliard trains around 800 undergraduate and graduate students in dance, drama and music, while The New York City Ballet (located in Lincoln Center) is home to some of the greatest dance troupes, such as the American Ballet.

We went to Barnes and Noble and took many different photos documenting our jouney . Using the photos we created a stop motion video. We also took video of many key points such as the new Nook e-book reader and the artwork around the store.

We chose to do a photo essay of Barnes and Noble because it is a mecca of people and diversity. It’s a great place to find information, grab a cup of coffee, and relax in the heart of Lincoln Center.

We learned that many different people can have things in common. An array of characters are able to conglomerate in higher learning and delicious coffee.

The Gang Visits Juilliard

We are…Abass Bayo-Awoyemi, Andrew Yen, Scott Dumont,
Amrita Narine, Mei Yi Chan, and Anna-sofiya lupolover. THE END!

No but seriously today, we explored the neighborhood encompassing the Macaualy College Honors Building. The Lincoln Center for performing arts caught our attention and we ended up walking over to the Juilliard School, which is
located at Lincoln Center. We took some exclusive footage though we weren’t allowed past the 2nd floor of the building without first applying for a scheduled tour. We chose to explore Juilliard because it’s such a reputable school and we all secretly envy their entire student body for having such talent. We learned that these talented artists either do a lot of their sleeping on the Juilliard lobby stairs and that there are free tours from Monday to Friday so you can check it out too!

What did you do- Why did you choose it- What did you learn?
We chose Lincoln center because of its interesting history and its iconic status as New York City landmark. Some of our group members attended school in the area, and were enthusiastic about choosing this location.

We did a historical analysis, and a summary of the variety of services provided at the Lincoln Art Center.

We learn a lot of fun facts about the center. It was designed by Robert Moses, and President Eisenhower attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Some of the pictures we found show that that ceremony was a star-studded event.
