Survey Questions for Students
1. What is your current level of education?
2. Briefly tell me about an interesting event that happened to you in the past week. Be as “you” as possible.
3. Rewrite the same story, but this time pretend that the assignment was given to you by your professor.
4. If your stories sound different, list a couple of differences that you notice between the two. Why did you make the changes that you did? If they are the same, why didn’t you change anything?
5. What do you think are the current expectations held by professors in regards to academic writing?
6. How do you feel about these expectations?

1. In your opinion, what are the current standards for academic writing?
2. How do you feel about these standards?
3. When you were a student, did you ever feel like your own voice was being limited? If so, by what?
4. As an educator, how would your responses to the previous question differ?
