Below, a flyer I designed on Illustrator and Indesign for a friend’s organization at U Dayton, is an example of a design challenge that I had to face: lots of information that he gave me to put on there (nearly a page double spaced), and I had to hunt for pictures on the facebook group. In addition, I had to design it in five hours. I was responsible for coming up with something that would catch people’s attention, and inform them, so that they would want to be a part of this organization. The hardest part was fitting the words into shapes that could work with the layout, in a logical, coherent manner. Did it work? Or is it too cluttered? The flyer has already been printed and distributed, but I’d genuinely love to hear your opinion. If it sucks, I need to know. But tell me why! What could be better? What worked out well? Also, if you need a flyer to be designed, I’m your girl. E-mail me at Alessandra.rao@macaulay.cuny.edu.
