Like I mentioned in my short bio, Milton Glaser is my favorite artist. Although he is known primarily as a graphic designer, I call him an artist because his his distinct, artistic flair is incorporated into each one of his logos and poster designs. Graphic design is sometimes dismissed as an art form because people believe that only physical, tangible art is considered “art.” I admire Glaser because he integrates the two. In addition, it takes a lot more than a basic knowledge of Illustrator and some high school art classes to make masterpieces like those.
I go to Glaser’s site for inspiration all the time. His simple, clear, and witty logos remind me that “less is more.” Not only is each individual piece well thought out, but the presentation of his site as a collection of pieces is a beautiful work in itself.
