“Shots Fired” is another notable slam poem created by the Los Angeles Team. This group is comprised of some of the same members that created “Somewhere in America” that gained millions of views on various social media sites. The “Shots Fired” poem speaks about the epidemic of gun violence in America. The speakers in this poem provide a collection of narratives in the point of view of the victims of gun violence. Every word used is spoken like a breath they feel like they don’t have. “Cause everybody gon’ respect the shooter, but the one in front of the gun lives forever” This poignant phrase brings the poem to a close and leaves the audience contemplating the complexities of each death that occurs in this country.
