Sound Bite 1 – Passing Train
Astora is known to be a noisy neighborhood for residents, as it’s home to the N and Q train terminal stops and the AMTRAK that passes on the Hell Gate Bridge. Here are some sounds of the Q train passing as it pulls into the terminal stop at Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard.
Sound Bite 2 – Chirping Birds
Astoria Park, unlike other parks, offers much more than just playgrounds and basketball courts. The park is widely known for its beautiful pool, the oldest and largest in the city. The views from the park also attract many people, as the park sits on the edge of the East River and the Triborough Bridge and Hell Gate Bridge. However, the park still remains relatively quiet, with occasional conversations between families wandering through the park, or birds chirping. Here are sounds of birds chirping in the park, with some sounds from other people in the park.
