TIMELINE

2056 – President Pansel has been falling in favor with the current Americans. His strong government attempt at regulated the market has suffered in popularity due to a large economic dip for 2055 and ’56. News pundits, now entirely via the Internet, as it is the main source of information, declare the unlikelihood of his re-election. There are now approximately 400 million people in the United States, 89% identifying as Christian of some denomination. Catholicism, positively proportionate to an increase in immigration that has continued over the past 40 years, has become extremely common in the United States. This is, according to religious groups, due to the increase in US Christian mission trips to now-developed countries that have largely been converted.

October – December 2056 – An election between a non-religious candidate, Thomas Arling, and President Samuel John is occurring for the next President of the United States. There has been increasing Republican, Christian influence in politics. Riots and violence has been occurring across the South and Midwest regarding whether or not Evolutionism should be taught, despite increasing scientific experimentation and evidence of evolution, according to scientists. This argument, and this division between science and religion has increased since 2012 because of the scientific advancements in this world. Technology is more advanced – longer-lasting LED lights,  less fossil fuels, and advanced stem-cell research. However, President John is intensely conservative and will shut down a lot of the scientific research regarding future evolution and genetic alteration if elected. Current President, Michael Pansel, has run two terms. He was an Independent, and has not endorsed a candidate to be re-elected.

Jan 2057 – President John is elected. President John is a Christian Evangelical who supports Christian-based rights. He is anti-abortion, pro-gun-ownership, and he has recently banned evolutionism from schools in the United States. There is a current Republican majority in the Senate and House. The government monitors law-breaking in 2057 largely by Internet-based data submission from law enforcement. The government has recently been breaking up protests outside the White House regarding non-Christian rights, but have been largely silenced and various members arrested.

February 2057 – The Pope and President John confirm, based on information that has been staunchly researched by the Christian Church, that the Tribulation is occurring and that Christian individuals must be aware of a war against Satan that will occur, and the ways in which Satan will manifest.

April 2057  – The Containment Law, stating that dangerous individuals who seem to pose a threat to religious Christian groups can be contained, lawfully and unharmed, if proof of endangerment is made.
