Janet Cardiff sound installation

Today’s trip to the Cloisters included a visit to the installation, by contemporary artist Janet Cardiff, titled The Forty Part Motet.  I think I can speak for those of us who went that the experience was very moving and it was a completely unique way to hear music in my experience.  Each track (singer) was separated and given his/her own speaker allowing the listener to hear the individuals or the whole. The installation was not just heard with one’s ears or understood in one’s mind but it penetrated your whole body.  After Chelsea asked if it was possible to find a way to listen to Cardiff’s music or the piece that was played  – a 16th century chorale – anywhere.  I found this link on last fm and wanted to share it!

Please keep in mind, that one (or more!) of you may choose to review the Janet Cardiff installation or the Cloisters museum.
