Bensonhurst’s Public School system includes both District 20 and District 21.

The population of children ages three and over enrolled in school is 19,278. The greatest percentage of this population is children enrolled in grades 1-8 (Elementary School) with 6,834 children. A close second is the population of young adults enrolled in college, at 6,093.

Of Bensonhurst’s 57,901 adults aged 25 and over, 9,820 of the population have less than a 9th grade education and 7,794 have some high school education but no diploma. This means that 30.5%, or nearly a third of the entire adult population, does not have a high school diploma.
