Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is an iconic American architectural structure. The building with its antenna spire is a constant in the ever-changing Manhattan skyline. Whether it is in a news broadcast, documentary, television show or movie based in New York City, the Empire State building will undoubtedly make an appearance. It held the title for the world’s tallest building for many years, with its 1,454 feet. Besides being known as a highlight for tourists who visit its observation deck, the Empire State building is predominantly rented office space for roughly 850 companies divided between its 102 floors. The outside of the building has not seen many changes since its construction in 1931. However, there is currently a multi-million dollar renovation taking place in order to make the building more energy efficient. The recent change to LED lights has also showcased this shift to a more ecologically friendly structure. The Empire State Building, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World is definitely a defining American structure; it has stood the test of time and proven the importance of history, yet is prepared to change with society and keep up with technology.
