Class of 2028 Information

Macaulay Honors Orientation events: August 21st and August 22nd. More details are coming soon.
Brooklyn Honors Fresh Day: August 27th.
Fall 2024 Classes beginWednesday, August 28.

**You can disregard emails about Brooklyn College Orientation from offices other than Honors Academy and Macaulay Honors.

Disregard requests from the College to sign up for a registration appointment.  You are already enrolled in your fall classes. Brooklyn College communications sends mass emails to all incoming first semester students—these are mostly not relevant for students in special programs like MHC.

You can view your schedule in the CUNYfirst Student Center under Course Planning and Enrollment > View My Class Schedule, or you can view it on Schedule Builder. Make note of your EMPLID, because you will need it for many transactions at BC.

Schedule Changes: All Brooklyn Honors students have an HONOR hold on their accounts to ensure that schedule changes are made through an advisor.  Generally, incoming first semester student schedules are fixed.  Please check your schedule now and if you have a question, please email Jaime at jweiss@brooklyn.cuny.edu.

Immunization Holds:
These holds prevent future registration changes and class attendance in the fall. Please go to CUNYfirst > Schedule Builder and look at the landing page to view your holds.

  • If you have an MMR hold, you must send your immunization records to the Health Program Offices, HPO@brooklyn.cuny.edu. The form can be found at this link: https://www.brooklyn.edu/dosa/health-and-wellness/health-programs/
  • If you have an MEN hold, you can clear this hold by going to CUNYfirst > Student Services Center > and clicking on the Meningitis Acknowledgment link in your to-do list. Since the vaccine is not mandatory, it’s fine to choose the third option declining it. The record will upload into your CUNYfirst account and the meningitis hold will be removed immediately

Your Macaulay Advisor: Your individual advisor will be assigned in the summer. Until then, you can direct questions to Jaime at jweiss@brooklyn.cuny.edu.

Tuition and Fees: You will notice when you log onto CUNYfirst and look at your financial screen, that you have a balance on your account. This is because your Macaulay Scholarship will not be deducted from your balance until the Fall term.  However, the Bursar’s office can see your authorized scholarship in your account and will know that you do not owe that money. You are only responsible for student fees, which will equal your balance less the tuition (listed as Undergraduate Resident Fee) charge of $3465. More details about student fees can be found here: http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/about/offices/bursar/tuition/undergraduate.php. You can pay the fees in CUNYfirst by going to Student Center> Financial Accounts> Payment Plan

***All Macaulay scholarship recipients are required to file FAFSA and TAP, even if they are sure they are not eligible, in order to receive the Macaulay funding.

Please do not declare a major over the summer.  If you get an email asking you to do this, forward it to your advisor.  Declaring your major too early can cause complications, especially if you receive TAP or PELL.  Always consult your advisor first.

AP and College Credits:

    • You can email a copy of your AP scores to tcevalucation@brooklyn.cuny.edu.
    • If you have taken any other college level courses,  you can email the unofficial transcript to tcevaluation@brooklyn.cuny.edu
    • If you receive AP credits for a class you are already enrolled in, let us know so we can change your schedule. Remember, only a 5 on AP English can  exempt you from ENGL 1010, and we still recommend taking the course in an honors section for all MHC students.
  • Change of Email Address: We want to make sure to reach you! Please email Jaime at jweiss@brooklyn.cuny.edu if you would like to receive program emails at a different address. You can change your preferred email for Brooklyn College in your profile on CUNYfirst and for Macaulay at this link .
    • We recommend that you do not use your high school address once you get to college. You might want to use your Macaulay address or your Brooklyn College address, or a personal address that has your name in it. You should note that some messages will only be sent to your BC address.  Information about access to your BC address can be found here: https://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/academics/technology_students/CUNYcloudemail.php. Information about your Macaulay address will come later.

Changing your Preferred Name: click here for instructions.

Accommodations: If you anticipate needing accommodations, you can be in touch with the Center for Student Disability Services. Their information is at this link: https://www.brooklyn.edu/dosa/student-support-services/csds/
