Topic Focus

Hey guys,

I was thinking that we could either think of this topic as a narrow focus on a result of city plans and rezoning on those who enjoy community gardens, like a case study. However, I was thinking we could maybe also talk more in a sense of the environmental issues revolving around the new plan and how the city combats these issues now compared to what they plan to do.

  1. So after reading the announcement that was just posted, I was thinking maybe our topic could be along the lines of Rezoning is displacing much of the nature/ natural environment left in the city. Our conceptual significance could relate to how people should be informed about the environmental impacts of rezoning which could feed into a practical significance, which I’m not too sure about yet.
Also rezoning is just an example, it could be replacement with something as simple as the city’s plans in regards to the environment or gardens.

  2. Hey guys. I’d like to suggest a new community contact for your group: Friends of Brook Park. Follow this link to learn about them: http://friendsofbrookpark.org/blog/. They do amazing work and a lot of it! I know some of the leaders there, and can connect you with them. I spoke to one of them last night and he mentioned that they have monthly volunteer days, and invited us all to the next one which is this Saturday at 11am, at E. 140th/141st St. and Brook Ave. Here’s the event page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1679272368999874/. Let me know what you think!
