Indian Point gives 100% of its power to New York City. It is the closest nuclear power plant to New York City, and it is so close because of the high need for energy in New York. New York City uses half of all New York power supply, and of the 6 nuclear power plants in New York, 30% of electricity of New York is provided by these nuclear facilities. Indian Point is the least expensive producer of electricity, so it always puts all of its electricity output 100% into the power grid of New York, even when the demand for electricity is lower like at night.
