Avrahom Aharon Yudelovich was the first full-time rabbi at the Eldridge Street Synagogue. He was born in Russia, and even at a young age, he was known for his exceptional knowledge of the Torah and Jewish law. After serving for some years as a rabbi in both Russia and England, he immigrated to the United States in 1908. In 1918, he was hired at the Eldridge Street Synagogue, 25 years after its opening. Although some of his views were considered controversial, he was respected as a brilliant scholar and inspiring preacher.
