And your prof.

Hello – just a few words from your prof. “outside the classroom”: like so many of you I love to travel, & travelled quite a lot in different parts of the world. Long time ago I hitchhiked across East and Central Africa, climbed Kilimanjaro, crossed the desert from Nigeria to the Mediterranean coast… I miss the freedom and challenge of such long treks & promise myself that in a near future, I’ll go back “on the road.” In the meantime, I learn more about (& teach) “literature of immigration and exile,” translate poetry, and try to stay on the side of Good.

The photo below is from a hike this summer in the Adirondacks – looking towards the range of mountains where the Hudson River has its source.  The second one is the portrait of someone you already know: my wise dog with her brother, Leo.

Good Friends and Good Times

Friendly Reunion
Friendly Reunion

I had already posted a picture before, but to fulfill the request of Drabik, here is one with a better shot of my face. I love all these people in this photo so much and it was a such a joy to see them again after almost two months being separated. We exchanged weird college stories, college frustrations, ate good food, laughed and even started to plan who’s going to who’s campus next semester.  Just a few more weeks until we can all relax and see each other again. JUST A FEW MORE WEEKS EVERYONE. LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Family

The picture that I chose to share with you guys is of me and my family in Central Park. I think that it is a good representation of who I am. My family is very close and they are extremely important to me. They have made me the person I am today. This is a fun selfie that really emulates the dynamic that we have when we are all together. Looking at this picture makes me remember all the fun times I have shared with them.

Self Portrait

IMG_1646 This is a photo of me with my aunt. I had been messing around with her hair, tying it up with a bunch of hairbands and making it look really ridiculous, and this was the result. I chose this picture because I associate it with really warm memories, and I think it’s one of the best visual representations of myself, because I’m genuinely happy in this photo.

Myself

This is a picture of me and my costars performing the last song in Dreamgirls last May! Doing these musicals had been a staple of my high school career and they helped shape who I am and who I want to be. Those were some of my best moments. Dreamgirls was the last show I did, and it was one of the most difficult and most rewarding. Music and Theatre will forever be part of who I am.
