Despite its rather drab title, this poem has a very interesting feel-good vibe. A man is walking down the street and instead of personal company, he has the company of his favorite musicians. It makes me think about music in a different way; instead of looking at music as though it only drowns out white noise or soothes the soul in times of turmoil, we can look at it as though it is a friend, accompanying us downtown the way in accompanies the author in this poem. I can feel his determination and confidence growing and growing until it reaches a zenith in the last few stanzas and he “cannot help but feel like the center of the universe.”
