Make a Great First Impression: Effective Interviews and Public Speaking (2:00-3:30)
Instructor: Anthony Meyer, Chairman, Meyer and Co. LLC; President, Macaulay Honors College Foundation
Meeting Time: June 15, 2:00-3:30
Come and learn the secrets of making a good initial (and lasting) impression! Presenting oneself clearly and impressively is not only key to good employment interviews and getting a job, but also is a very important element of one’s effectiveness in the workplace. Reliance on social media blunts the development of good interpersonal skills, and the overuse of “like”, “so” and other verbal affectations detracts from the very important “first impression.”
Anthony E. Meyer is a New York City-based entrepreneur, private investor and philanthropist. He is the President of Ocean Road Advisors, Inc., a privately-held “family office” investment management company, and also serves as the Chairman of privately-held Meyer and Co., LLC (www.meyerandco.com), a New York City-based merchant banking firm. He is also the President of the Macaulay Honors College Foundation. As a serial entrepreneur, Meyer founded companies in the education, healthcare and investment management businesses. As an investor, he previously co-founded and managed the investment management affiliates of Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, a leading global, private investment bank, and Trammell Crow Company, one of the largest diversified real estate companies in the world. As a citizen and social entrepreneur with interests in education, Jewish community service and healthcare, Meyer serves as a Trustee of organizations such as the City University of New York’s Macaulay Honors College, the American Jewish Committee, Dr. Mehmet Oz’s HealthCorps and Geneva-based UN Watch. He also serves on the Investment and Advisory Committees of numerous for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Meyer graduated from Harvard College in 1982 as a John Harvard Scholar, with a magna cum laude degree in Economics, and received his MBA from Harvard Business School with distinction in 1984. |
