Grocery Store
After the Korean meal, we ventured to the Korean/Japanese supermarket. The location of this market is very convenient for Asian consumers because it is right next to “Sister BBQ”. The store is very small and cramped, about the size of a deli with only half an aisle of walking space. Not much can be said about this tiny little store, for the entire tour of it took less than five minutes. Only one cashier was present at the time we visited the store. As we walked through the store, there were not many Asian decorations compared to the restaurant. Apart from the lack of decorations, there were numerous Asian products being sold.
When you first walk in, you see the produce. As you walk in further, you encounter the freezer section on the right and the miscellaneous merchandise on the left. The freezer section had massive amounts of Korean products such as kimchi, tofu, dumplings, and bean sprouts. On the shelves were wasabi and many different types of noodles, sauces, and tea. Besides the edibles, there were also a variety of home products such as teakettles and pots – items important for home cooking in an Asian household. This particular supermarket is very small and unpopular compared to the Asian Food Markets due to its location and lack of space and products. Although the small store sold enough of the necessities mainly to the Korean population, the amount of space made it very uncomfortable for a customer to navigate in.
