We had discussed in class how the viewer interacts with the image being viewed and in the process creates something new. I was thinking of that when I walked through The Museum of Modern Art’s “From the Collection: 1960–1969″ last Saturday. Here are a few photos I took that I thought might make the point. Of course it is now viewer/viewed-viewer/viewed-viewer/viewed.
I tried to sample the different kinds of “art” which were displayed to get a sense of how museum visitors interact with them. The young women taking a selfie with the flower on the distant wall was especially fascinating in that you can catch a glimpse of the flower in their cell phone if you enter into the picture yourself, as I did.
