This picture was taken in a New York City neighborhood, Forest Hills Gardens, which in many ways resembles a park. Unlike any New York City park, this neighborhood distinguishes itself with its antique-style houses. The neighborhood has a rule that all houses must be kept in the same style (on the outside) since they were built, which in most cases is 1909. The community has very strict rules on renovating the houses and only permits residents to install certain kinds of materials for renovation. As a result, Forest Hills Gardens is an absolutely charming neighborhood to walk through and most streets look very similar to the one in the photograph above. When walking through the Gardens, pedestrians are most likely to feel as if they have just popped into an old book of fairytales (Mary Poppins style) and are walking down some of the streets in which these stories take place.
