Audience at the Met

While at the Met, the first thing I noticed about the audience was how annoying a select group was. In the middle of an act, after a dramatic scene, they would just start clapping. Now showing appreciation for the singer’s amazing ability is fine, but not when another singer needs to start singing!

But other than that, the audience was (predictably) mostly filled with an older age set.I was surprised to see more people in their 20s and below than I expected – I even saw a child who looked to be probably 10-years-old! I noticed the people in the farther-back seats were dressed slightly more casually than the people seated closer to the stage. So while jeans were a common occurrence in the back seats, formal dresses and suits were prevalent towards the front.
