Carnegie Hall-Atmosphere

The atmosphere of Zankel Theater was one of elegance. The way the bright lights were placed on the ceiling to focus the light on the musicians on the stage was important in creating this type of atmosphere.  I mostly focused on the atmosphere that was created by the music in the three compositions.

In the first composition, the atmosphere was emotionally intense. The mercurial nature of the music and the pace of the performance created an atmosphere that was serious and purposeful yet light in tension. The atmosphere become more bright and light-hearted in nature as the performance of the first composition continued on. The final type of atmosphere of the first composition was sprightly and forward looking.

The atmosphere of the second composition was very elegant. The stage lights were dimmed and the quartet players became the center of focus. The fast-paced movement of the second scene made it seem as the atmosphere had become one of urgency.  The atmosphere also maintained its seriousness while the performance was fast-paced.

The third composition had a variety of atmospheres at different parts of the composition. The first part of the third composition was a sorrowful and gloomy atmosphere with many intense movements. The second part of this composition was composed of hesitant strokes that invoked a bright and optimistic atmosphere. The final movement of this composition had an atmosphere full of agony and anger.
