Male training is clearly visible due to the fluent movements of the men, and the similarity between the movements of the men and women.   Because the women are more naturally flexible, you can assume that the men trained very hard in order to match their flexibility.  The years they spent dedicated to dance and their focus on perfecting their skills in order to perform like their female counterparts.

The women mostly held leads that were seen as inferior or naive.  Specifically in the last piece, where the female dancer was portrayed as one of the main characters, but she could be seen as naive for being so in love.
