Our daily lives are made up of many intertwining features that make us who we are. We wake up with a heartbeat, starting each and every day the same. These waking moments are just between us and our bodies. Hour by hour, however, more external things pile onto the noises in our head, the annoyances creating chaos, not by their original volume, but the sheer masses of them. We have our mundane routines, commutes, the obnoxious habits of those around us, and pain. Yet what balances these out are things like laughter and music. What we must always remember is to take a step back, reconnect with that original heartbeat, and just breathe.

  1. I like how you combined all sorts of noises to show how many sounds we hear throughout the day in a crescendo. In my group’s sound transformation, we also had crescendos of various noises to show how busy the modern world is.

  2. The music seems just like someones day in a nutshell. A person wakes up; as he/she progress through the day, more and more stress and details are added. At the end of the day, when going to sleep, a person comes back to where he/she started. I feel like that every day.

  3. I really liked the “ow” part. I also thought that adding the subway line was a really good idea- it definitely connects your transformation to everyday lives. I also liked the silence at the end. It was very nicely done.

  4. This was a really interesting sound sculpture. The “ow”s interjected throughout the piece really invoked an image of someone’s daily life punctuated by a constant stress. I liked the train announcements as well— they really resembled the actual voices. The point of transformation was amazing and serene, especially the final “namaste”.

  5. This is really cool because there are no actual songs in it. You guys just used sounds to get your point across and I think it is really unique. I understand your transformation because it is so relatable to everyone, which is why I think I like it so much. Good job!
