Creative Project #2: The Nose — 5 Comments

  1. I love the use of the powerful narrator. It sounds like an authoritative figure that knows the difference between right and wrong. It is also a really cool effect. I like how you show that cheating gets you no where in life and how you eventually realize whats important; working hard. The piece was put together greatly and conveys a very powerful message. Additionally, your editing skills are amazing. Great job.

  2. I think your use of a synthesized narrator because it gave the voice more authority. It sounded very omniscient, almost like the voice of reason. It knew that cheating was wrong, and your video showed the outcome of that. Even though it’s hard to refuse a friend after letting him or her copy the first time, which I think was shown by the repetitiveness in the beginning, I think you guys did a good job showing that it’s actually not hard to say no. I also liked the way you edited the video.

  3. I liked the voice used as well, it made the video feel like a PSA of sorts. I like that you went with an idea that’s especially relatable to college students: the pressure and desire to do well creating the willingness to cheat. It was really easy to see the parallels with The Nose, since the cheating friend was distraught once his friend refused to help him cheat anymore.

  4. I really liked the usage of special effects throughout the video. The special effect of Nabil flying was very clear and conveyed a powerful and simple message. The story has a sad resolution but it is true to life, that cheaters do not go as far as those who work to what they get. Kevin’s acting at the end was superb and I enjoyed the scene where he was sleeping on the bench superimposed next to Nabil being successful.

  5. I liked the voice over in the beginning of the video because it creates a real cool effect on the entire video. The whole time I felt like something bad was going to happen, and it did. It was awesome how you utilized the dual screen viewing because we could see, at real time, the differences of rich and poor and how it is so easy to go from going to poor, but not so much the other way around. What I think we need to focus on from this video is how easy it was for Kevin to become poor once he lost the answers to the test, but how quickly Nabil was able to rack in the riches when he stopped giving the answers. I believe this is a fundamental part of how college is because there are the people who dont put the effort and fail and then there are those who do put in the effort, but pass, however they werent able to help out the people around them because then it means there would be more competition. I wish college was little more about sharing knowledge when not sharing it could be critical in your chances of an A or not.
