New York residents are stereotyped as extremely impatient people. This study examined how customers at Dunkin Donuts reacted to a need to wait for service. The participants were separated by the type of lifestyle they represented. The operational definition of the lifestyle they represented was the way they dressed: casual dress represented a laid-back lifestyle and proper attire represented a fast-paced, working lifestyle. The participants were then observed to see what kinds of impatient behavior they exhibited (i.e. eye-rolling, weight-shifting, sighing). We found that there was no significance between lifestyle and impatient behavior exhibited.
