From The Integration of Dominican, Chinese, Russian and Mexican Immigrants in NYC

I am 100% Ecuadorian. Well, almost. My great-great-great grandfather was German, but I'm sure you can understand that the percentage is so insignificant that I wouldn't count it. My mother and father were both born in Ecuador and were brought by their parents to the United States in their teenage years, coincidentally. I would definitely say they have integrated well. They speak fluent English, only speak Spanish at home about 50% of the time, and we live in Merrick on Long Island which is an almost all white community. This shows they branched out and haven't just stayed in the usual Hispanic communities.
