Revitalization of Jewry in Post WWII World

From The Peopling of NYC

The postwar American Jewry was comparable to White Protestants. They had similar educational backgrounds and comparable incomes and lifestyles. But these run-of-the-mill Jews were faced major challenges after WWII. They had to support the remaining Jews in Europe, aid the yishuv (settlement), in Palestine, and, in the US, maintain a vibrant Jewish life attractive enough to sustain the affiliation of the younger generation. All of these challenges reinforced Jewish religion or provided a secular ethnic replacement for it. Either way, American Jewry was revitalized.
