Over a period of time, there was much material improvement: better working conditions, increased income, labor movements, educated and mobilized Jewish workers. The formula Jewish immigrants utilized was as follows:
Desire to achieve better life for themselves and their children + cultural memory + willingness to adapt = STRATEGY OF SURVIVAL.
In time, Eastern European Jewish immigrants in the U.S. were able to eat during the week what they considered “holiday” and Sabbath foods.
