In class we’ve discussed a plethora of things, from Shakespeare to Sontag we were able to analyze many different art forms. Considering the fact that moving image has played such a vital role in shaping our culture, I think it would be interesting to visit the Museum of Moving Image and get a glimpse of how it all gets put together. The “Behind The Screen” exhibition seems to be a great way to get to find out more about “producing, marketing and exhibiting the moving image”. The museum is also very interactive which adds to the overall experience. It is on our cultural passport so it is free.
The Rubin Museum of Art would also add something new to our understanding of art. The Museum is the only museum in the Western World dedicated to the art of the Himalayas and surrounding regions. I for one don’t know anything about art in that part of the world, so I think it would be a great experience to see something different and compare it to the art we have been looking at and discussing. This museum is also on our cultural passport.
Both museums seem to be closed on Tuesday so we would have to find another day.
