It might help to start with getting more background info. on the person you are speaking to--how long they have been in US, what they do or where they go to school, why they go to Jackson Heights, then move into asking--have they noticed changes in the area over time? You notice lots of Hispanics, Tibetans. When did this happen? Has it had an effect on the shopping area? Do different kinds of people use the area? Has the person had to learn about/interact with different kinds of people around home? at work? while shopping?
