Jasmine Patel, in Spring 2006, gladly accepted the honor of being a University Scholar as well as Bachelor of the Arts/Medical Degree program student. As a result, Jasmine moved to Brooklyn in August and resigned from her four-year job as a sacristan at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. With goals of becoming a renowned doctor, she started Brooklyn College after graduating salutatorian of Staten Island Technical High School’s Class of 2006. She continually looks to meet new people and so joined as many school organizations as possible. Her love of speaking drew her to the BC Forensics- Speech and Debate Team and she has enjoyed every minute of each competition she attended in Montreal and Ocean City. Jasmine’s outgoing and friendly personality was put to good use as a tutor for the superintendent’s children in her building. Currently, because Jasmine loves to dance the night away, she is president of the BC Cruise Committee devoting her time to making a Brooklyn College dinner cruise possible for its students. Jasmine looks forward to interning at two neurosurgeons’ practices this summer and hopes to shadow many surgeries. She plans to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in economics and enter SUNY Downstate Medical School in 2010. Her long-term goals include having a successful medicinal practice as well as a large loving family.
