What’s that? It’s a Bird, It’s a plane, It's… a segment of Where in Harlem is Diego?

In this episode, I travel into the land of SOHA signs to Patisserie Des Ambassades, a fusion French/African café.

Walking in, the size of the café hits you. It is tiny, and you begin to feel a bit cramped with only 4 or 5 other patrons around. The décor looks ragged, and not very inviting. The seats are quite comfortable however.

Now for the food….hmm, tiramisu, fruit tart and mussels in a garlic sauce.

"Down the hatch!"
"Down the hatch!"

The tiramisu and tart were decent, but slightly lacking. The mussels on the other hand, were absolutely delicious. The garlic sauce was infused with chili peppers, giving this seafood dish quite a kick. The mussels themselves were tender and easily removed from the shell.

This experience was slightly disappointing. Expecting a trendy blend of Parisian and African décor and fare, I felt my experience was less than stellar. There was a language barrier with the staff, and this led to some confusion while ordering. The food wasn’t half bad, and if you’re in the neighborhood you should stop by.
