Catching Up

Due to some unfortunate internet connection problems within the past couple weeks, I have been unable to periodically record on the blog. However, I will try and catch up.

I have gone to the site, Starling Ave., and have taken a couple of pictures of the different stores (grocery stores, a supermarket, a restaurant). The purpose of the pictures was to show a strong Indian concentration within a stretch of four blocks. There is also a clothing store farther down, along with bakeries.

The restaurant Neerob will be my focus.

I have also found some articles that relate to the bangladeshi community in the bronx, however they mostly deal with conflict. Despite this, it will provide some background.

(Excerpt: The Bangladeshi population in this small expanse of multifamily residences more than tripled from 2000 to 2010, part of a dramatic increase in Asians in the Bronx and citywide. The City Council’s 18th District, which includes Parkchester, Soundview and Castle Hill, covers most of Community District 9. The 2010 U.S. Census found 3,147 Bangladeshis living in Community District 9, with almost half of them in Parkchester.)
