These statues are located in Christopher Park, across the street from the Stonewall Inn. The statues depict a standing couple of two males, and the sitting couple is two females. The statues were created in 1979 by George Segal as a memorial of the Stonewall riots. The statues were moved from spot to spot due to vandalism. In 1992 they were placed in the current place only to be defiled with black paint.
