Classical Music For All

In the article “Carnegie Hall to Offer Live Webcasts of Four Concerts” by Michael Cooper it is brought to the readers attention that Carnegie hall will begin to live stream concerts. This is an important breakthrough for many reasons. Hopefully, it will lead to a resurgence in interest in classical music. It will also allow people who can not afford it the opportunity to see concerts and for the avid fans, it will allow them to see the concerts more often.

It is fantastic to see more places that are now embracing technology such as the “Talking Statues” project blogged about earlier. Opening art more to technology will expand interest and will lead to tremendous growth in the arts.  This is important because in all fields it is important to change with technology. Without changing, a field can become obsolete so it is important to embrace these new ideas. Art is doing a great job of changing with the times in order to keep immense relevance.

Carnegie Hall offering streams of the concerts for the first time is an important step, and Im sure that the use of streams will continue to expand. It will be great for people to have access to content that they previously have not had, and to be able to watch the concerts at any time. It will be great to continue to see art become more accessible due to the use and growth of technology.
