I love the contrast you did between the pictures and quotes. All the pictures view New York as a busy, loving, and populated city, but all of your quotes were about loneliness. I like that you kept everything black and white, which felt more classic, simple, and serious. New York City, is so vast that it can get quite lonely sometimes, but there are also tons of people around you that you can befriend and love.

Sticking to only black and white gave this diary entry a great amount of depth that wouldn’t have been able to be achieved by using photos of the New York we are so accustomed to seeing, a New York of bright and colorful lights. I also really liked the quotes that you chose, all of them being on the shorter side. While I don’t think I can identify exactly what impact the shorter quotes made and how it changed my perception I’m aware that it did. Its also a bit scary how in a city where it’s hard to get some personal space you can feel the most distant from people. Unlike in a small suburban community everything is so much more anonymous, and exposure to a plethora of people makes everyone seem a bit less human. This makes finding someone you care for all the more important, not just in making a city less lonely but making the world as a whole less lonely.
