I thought your video was done really well. I love the message you guys placed at the end, “Save Lives By Reaching Out, Just Call Them…” At the beginning with Janice and Michal, I thought it was going to be a really cute love story, and then suddenly you see the razor. Once I saw the razor next to the phone on the desk, I understood that Michal represented Pamina and Janice represented Tamino. Michal was devasted that Janice hasn’t reached out to him so he was going to kill himself. I thought you guys did a great interpretation of the Magic Flute, but in a modern day setting.

I thought this video was great! It brings the struggle of the Tamino and Pamina into the modern day, and kind of shows how ridiculous their story is. The thought of committing suicide over someone you have literally just met is pretty reckless and your video puts that in perspective.

I thought your film mixed the two strong feelings of romance and fear really well. You immediately established a connection between the viewer and Tamino and Pamina. This was key for the rest of the story, which ends up developing into a film of heartbreak and suspense. I thought the usage of the phone as a display of Michal’s emotions was intelligent and relatable to its viewers. Overall, I felt the message about love and its ups and downs was strong and I admire the message at the end of the film.

I love how you transformed the classical opera into a contemporary love story! It definitely portrays the drama of the opera efficiently. Also, I admire how a male played the role of Pamina, while Janice played Tamino. In addition, The Queen of the Night is silent in this clip, yet the presence of this character is prominent. Overall, this video is extremely well done. The camera is also very clear, and even with minimum dialogue the whole story is very easy to comprehend. I think its interesting how many groups used cell phone communication as part of their videos, but each group utilized the phone in a unique way to tell a story. Great job!

Well done! Your video clearly represents the struggles Pamina and Tamino face in The Magic Flute, and brings to light the current struggle that many people go through by putting a modern twist on the interpretation. I also really liked how you guys decided to switch the gender roles and in essence break certain stereotypes. Your video made a very powerful statement, yet was very simple and cute. Great job!

Firstly, great PSA at the end guys. I liked the sudden change of tone between the upbeat dream Michael was having of him and Janice, followed by the brutal reality of him being alone when he wakes up. I felt the suspense when the razor and phone were parallel to one another on the desk and the connection between The Magic Flute was really there. It was also refreshing to see a male character as the hung-up, anxious one instead of the female, because usually it’s the girls that are shown as waiting by their phones for their Prince Charming to give them a call. Good job guys!

This video is very well done! I like how you guys took the love story between Pamina and Tamino and placed it into a modern setting, complete with iPhones and Starbucks and reversed gender roles. It’s both relatable to the opera and just life in general. I liked how you explored the contrast between dreams and reality and the internal struggle it causes. The message at the end was a good addition as it is truly such an important one.

I agree with many of the previous comments, this video did a great job of bringing the struggle of Pamina and Tamino to the modern times. While the story hasn’t changed that much, the way in which things are done has. This video had a very profound message and I think it was really well done. I also agree that in the beginning it seems like a love story, but at the end we get a much different feeling.
