ICP
Since I hope to major in film and photography I was thrilled to go to ICP. Once we got there, i found myself moved by the pictures on the first floor, and not moved by the beauty of the pictures. I found them provocative and didn’t really enjoy them. I felt like i could have taken some of those pictures, in all honesty. However, once i went downstairs I was blown away at how simple black and white pictures could take my breath away. My favorite picture was of the smiling child who was covered in dirt. It showed how even in the toughest times, there can always be happiness and laughter. I also really enjoyed the JFK exhibit because in high school i learned a lot about the JFK assassination. Another favorite picture was what i call the first cropped pictures. It was a group of maybe 5 or 6 pictures all put together, which i found amazing because at first you cant even tell since it all flowed so beautifully with each other. Overall, I really enjoyed my time there 🙂

Juilliard Jazz Quartet
On the way to the jazz concert in Lincoln Center, I had no idea what to expect especially since this was my first live concert. That’s right, I’ve never been to a live concert before. I thought it would be the same as listening to the music we hear on the radio everyday. Anyways, as the concert started, I couldn’t help but be amazed. All the players were so connected with each other and so in sync. They kept smiling at each other. The first few songs were very soothing and I found myself closing my eyes and just letting my mind wonder, something that usually doesn’t really happen when I listen to music on the radio. Another thing I noticed that was different was how into the music I got. I enjoyed the overall performance and actually like jazz. I never expected myself to like that kind of music. However I actually do now. The only thing that annoyed me during the performance was the last song. I never knew when it was going to end, especially with the entire drum patters in between. Another thing that annoyed me was how everyone would just end up clapping his or her hands at a random point during the concert. I never knew when to clap. Besides these two minor set backs I really enjoyed my first concert experience, because as Luke said in class “it was a solid performance”

Night at the Museum
Hi guys. To be completely honest, I have had no previous experience with art and had no idea of what to expect at the museum. I wasn’t too thrilled to go because I thought it would be boring. However, I was blown away just by the structure of the museum. It was beautiful and looked so majestic. my favorite piece of art was the River Seine at Mantes. This painting, created in 1856, predicted the future of the world. One side of the painting was luscious and green and full of life. The forest was deep green and thick and there were no people on that side of the river either. On the other side of the river, there was a factory in the background with smoke coming out of it. The land was green, but with no trees and looked empty. There were also 2 people on that side of the river as well. The fact that there were people on the side where the factory and emptiness was, showed that we are the cause of such a life like that. Also, by depicting the two sides, the painter is showing that we have a choice to make about which world we want and if are smart we can have both. As i continued to explore the museum, I began to look at the paintings to find a deeper meaning behind them all. I had a pleasant time at the museum and look forward to going to many more.
