1. What does Art mean?
Art is any form of expression that can be interpreted in different ways by different people. It can bring about thought and stimulate thinking. It does not necessarily have to be a painting or a sculpture. It can be sports or the use of language. Clothing and fashion can also be considered as art, because they are a way of self expression.
2. What is your favorite historical period?
My favorite historical period would be the 20th century. During this time there is a huge boom in inventions and discoveries and scientific achievements. It is a time when man discovered penicillin and walked on the moon. It is also a time of conflict and fear caused by the Great Depression, the Spanish Flu, two world wars and fears of a global nuclear catastrophe. It is a time that is laced with achievements and conflicts much like an individual’s own life.
3. What is your favorite art form?
I think romantic or the art of the Renaissance would be my favorite. There is a lot of focus on the unreal, the fantasy in romantic art while the Renaissance art has a great amount of detail. Both are vivid and full of colors and there is a certain awe when I view them because of the ability of artist imagination and dedication in making these artworks.
4. What is your academic/ non-academic strength?
My academic strengths are definitely in the sciences. Having been a full time employee at Mount Sinai Medical Center doing research, I can say for sure that biology and chemistry are two of my most favorite subjects and that I have no problem with putting the time in learning more about each field. As for my non academic strengths, I think my willingness to help others and listen to others are something I am known for by my friends. Also I think sleeping and eating and playing tennis are also three of my best non academic strengths.
5. Do you feel comfortable with new technologies?
Yes, I think it is really interesting to learn a new way to do something.
6. How would you rate your writing skills?
I want to improve on my writing style by learning different techniques of writing and developing my own style of writing. I think my writing is strong on details and vividness but nevertheless I would like to become a more versatile writer.
