10/6 Assignment

Photography is most definitely an art from. Like painting, photography involves both technique and creativity. Photography is just as tedious as any other art form. The photographer has to pay attention to lighting, distance and angle. The photographer has a lot to think about in order to capture the image the way he wants. Two people can take a picture of the same object, but the pictures themselves might look completely different. At the Museum of Modern Art, I really liked the photographs in the Cultural and Political Icons section, especially the photograph of the Statue of Liberty by unknown photographer and Trepanning Operation on the Nation’s Great Men in a Mountain Memorial by S. L. A. Marshall. Both of these photographers took iconic images and photographed them from a totally different angel. We are so used to seeing images of the Statue of Liberty taken from the sky and photographs of Mt. Rushmore taken head on. By changing the angle, the photographers show different sides of iconic images.  The photographs therefore, become works of art.
