Group Project

Our final group project will be to explore musical and dance performances in public venues, specifically subway stations. We will explore the history behind public art, how it has become a daily occurrence whenever we pass through subways and how it has evolved from its earliest times. We will watch different performances by various performers (musicians and dancers) and interview them as well as audience members that have gathered around. We will ask them what inspires them to perform in subways over other public venues, how their art differs from traditional art seen in museums such as paintings and sculptures and what the meaning behind their art is. We will divide into teams to explore the two different art forms and focus on specific subway stations in order to grasp the different performers that entertain there. We will provide both a video and a powerpoint presentation to discuss public art and its evolution through time in the New York City subway system.

Our title for this will be project: Rags to Rhythm.

Our group for this project will be: Virginia, Guillermo, Nick, Anthony & Rahul
