There are many news channel out there, and a majority of them exert their own views or have their own bias.  Fox News is known to incorporate their own bias through their broadcast.

The news article I chose was about the end of DACA. One article from Fox News and the other from the Daily News.

The program, DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), was a program established in 2012.  This program was created by Obama to protect young immigrants who came to the United States as a child without legal status.  These children eventually enroll in schools in the United States as well as working, but they are still listed as “undocumented” and about 800,000 people have signed up to be part of this program.

The elimination of this program will not only tarnish the United State’s economy, but will decrease a large number of the country’s population.  Many of these DACA candidates are graduated with full time jobs, and eliminating them will cost even more to replace. The bias is shown in Fox News when the White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that Trump is “in the process of finalizing and will make a decision Tuesday of next week.  He loves children and wants to make sure this decision is done correctly”. This statement portrays the fact that this News cast supports Trump and believes that whatever he is doing is the right thing, disregarding the fact that the economy will tarnish and families are going to be separated. The cast also states that this decision isn’t one that Trump “takes lightly” and that it “takes time and diligence to make sure he goes through the process,” adding the choice he will make “is weighing on him, certainly.”  This news cast is supporting Trump and believes that every choice he is making is the right choice. They clearly show that they believe Trump is in a pickle, and that he is doing whatever he can to make the right decision.  The fact that they added that “he loves children” shows that they are supporting him.

The bias shows in the Daily News when the article said that “The Congressional agenda, Republican alliances, American businesses and the lives of nearly a million young immigrants- all of this and more could be disrupted by Present Trump’s decision to end DACA”.  This statement clearly shows that the cast does not support Trump and his decision to end the DACA program.  They also state that “Trump publicly wrestled for months about the decisions as he struggled to reconcile his suppose desire to protect Dreamers with his campaign promises to clamp down on illegal immigration.”  The diction used in this statement, such as “he struggled to reconcile” and “his suppose desire” shows that they believe that Trump has no idea what he is doing, and that what he is doing is not a clever action.

To conclude, the bias shown between these two news articles are clearly differentiated through their use of diction.  It is inevitable that Fox News supports Trump’s decision and Daily News is against it.
