After a while, Pinterest, Gmail, Facebook, Anthropologie, Aish and Bloomingdales websites become quite a bore. Yes, they look so orderly and arranged attop my macbook’s bookmarks bar, however it was time for me to spruce things up and add some spice to my online addiction regiment. Meticulously curated by designers spanning across the globe, as founder Shauna Mei puts it, “ahalife is a place of discovery…a place where a new designer tells them about their creative process and makes them feel JOYFUL.” To me, ahalife reminds me of a tamed down version of Barney’s-up and coming designers, high price points (although some carefully mixed in pieces at reasonable prices after you manage to sift through the site), apparel and accessories as well as cosmetics and home decor, and most importantly, an element of specialness and surprise.
